GameZone is sporting a Q&A with the Ensemble guys who recently announced that Age of Mythology has gone gold. I saw some drunk dudes at IHOP late at night the other day so it's pretty certain they are celebrating :)

According to the Ensemble Studios website, their newest "Age of.." game Age of Mythology, has gone gold. The 3D strategy game will ship to stores October 31st in North America.

Using familiar elements of classical mythology, Age of Mythology casts players as one of nine unique civilizations from ancient Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythologies. Players can reinforce their armies with mythological creatures like Cyclopes and Medusas or call upon the mighty powers of gods such as Zeus to rain down lightning bolts on unsuspecting enemies. Age of Mythology also incorporates Ensemble Studios' trademark features from previous Age of Empires games, including a compelling economic model, a massive army and battle system, unequaled artificial intelligence, random maps, intuitive gameplay and extreme attention to detail.

HomeLAN Fed's Age of Mythology preview is online this morning, based on impressions of a partial build of the 3D RTS. The preview goes over the single player missions, the 3D engine and graphics, the cutscenes, tutorial missions, and the included map editor.

This HomeLAN Fed news story has word that Microsoft will release a Special Collectors Edition of Age of Mythology when it's released later this year. It will come with a music CD, a making-of DVD, several posters, a Minotaur figurine and more. All of this will be in an "oversized box" which will measure 13x10.5x2.8".
