Another AMD Factory in 2004

Jan 09, 2001 8:14am CST tags: AMD
AMD is growing, and even though their Dresden, Germany factory didn't open that long ago there are already plans for a third factory in 2004. Since the new factory would cost around $4 billion though, they are looking for a partner who could use the 300-millimeter facility as well. Intel is opening a 300-millimeter facility in 2002 (the normal wafer surface is 200 millimeter and so the processor makers can get more chips out of the new factories).
