All of the major new functionality is working perfectly, including 32-bit color rendering, texture compression, full-scene anti-aliasing, T-buffer capabilities, as well as all the multi-chip SLI and FSAA capabilities. As a result, software development has been able to go full speed and thus we expect software to be very robust for shipping product. We believe we are still on track for April production for the first VSA-100 products

The alpha VSA-100 product we showed at Cebit had a few problems that were caused by a faulty process in the manufacturing of the silicon. The processing flaw manifested itself in many areas, including issues with clock frequencies and RAMDAC quality. The problem has been rectified.
3dfx is very encouraged by the state of our first silicon, known as A0 silicon, which was used on the products shown at Cebit. It is not unusual for first silicon to have a few minor issues. The excellent state of this initial silicon is very encouraging, and none of the minor problems that have been discovered and address have delayed the shipments of the Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 products.

3dfx Interactive will be showing the VSA-100 based Voodoo 4 and Voodoo5 products at the upcoming Games Developers Conference held from March 9-12 in San Jose.
There was a news item over the weekend on 3dfx's showing in Tokyo that had quite a thread going that you may have missed over the holidays btw.
The anti-aliasing capability of the board is being easily seen through the use of a hotkey which toggles the effect on and off. And users are telling us it's a very compelling demo of the true benefits of real-time, full-scene anti-aliasing. ... the T-Buffer effects and anti-aliasing. The VSA-100 does anti-aliasing on the fly - and in all games - new or old. T-Buffer, however, has to be supported by content creators in the future. ... the Voodoo5's are being seen right now - for the first time - at Macworld Tokyo. ... and with real-time anti-aliasing enabled in today's most popular titles.
The official release Windows 2000 drivers for the Voodoo3 2000/3000 are completed and have finished certification testing. We are currently waiting for Microsoft to return the final certification on these drivers to 3dfx. Due to Microsoft WHQL restrictions, we cannot post beta drivers for Windows 2000.
Also, it's my understanding that Voodoo2 support won't make it into Windows2000. This is not the fault of 3dfx however but in fact Microsoft. They arent allowing/enabling support for secondary 3D cards. (Voodoo2, PowerVR) I sent off an email to 3dfx so hopefully we'll have official word on that soon.
"Geometry processing is an important technology whose time is approaching. I do not think that the real solution to the issues surrounding geometry processing as been introduced yet. People have jumped on the T & L bandwagon, but recent articles have shown the weaknesses of today's solutions, especially with the more powerful processors."
