Planescape: Torment

Dec 12, 2001 7:11pm CST
The finest isometric CRPG I have ever played. The story is immersive, I liked that you built your stats as you levelled in the game, allowing you to make yourself stronger, smarter, or faster depending on how you wanted to play the character.

One gripe, and it's a minor-ish one: One of the final battles in the game was so hard I actually had to run around the circular room avoiding enemy until I whittled him down. This wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't take me a good 15-20 minutes to kill him this way.

That said, the game was nearly flawless. That one gripe probably had more to do with the way I built my character than the game itself, and once I got past that point I was able to complete the game. The graphics while low-res were great, and the atmosphere and the overall setting to the game was totally believable and fantastic. I have great hopes for Torn, if Black Isle can maintain this level of quality.
