The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Good poinst:

My first impression of the screenshots made it look like the game's graphics were going to be garbage, but once you play it for a little while, you'll realize how much effort went into it. The effects like fire, smoke, ice, water, etc, all look REALLY good in the comic/cartoony way they did it. the purple smoke that rises out of guys you just killed looks outstanding. It's just a visually pleasing game (except possibly the faces of the characters, which aren't great). The wind effects rock!

I'm not much of a sound person, but everything sounded proper. The voice of Link is good, albeit minimal (grunts and such).

The story was great! I really liked the way they made a fresh story in the Zelda world. I'll save you the spoilers, but the idea behind why you're in a huge ocean and how you learn of all of the events of the past are great.

Finally, the gameplay. Come on people, it's Nintendo. The gameplay was flawless. They made it so that the C button (yellow stick on right side) gave you the full control of the camera, which was excellent. I always felt like I had perfect control of Link. I did happen to watch my little brother struggle with the game, but I think he just wasn't using all of the buttons (L-Targeting, etc). Every time you get a new item, it's going to blow you away. The redesign of the boomerang alone should be enough reason to buy it.

Bad:

Its short! Realistically, there's only like 4 or 5 dungeons in the game. Sure, there's little rooms you go in here and there, but in the Zelda 3 or Zelda 64 sense of the word, there's only 5 main dungeons or so before the end. I remember thinking "ok, 8 more dungeons and I'll be at Ganon", only to find out I was on Ganon.

BTW, Ganon is awesome in this, as well as the final battle.

Great game.
