Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

This game has some good AHHHHH MY FUCKING EYES solid gameplay. The control is a little stiff and akward and I often found myseld wishing for the buttery smooth control of Devil May Cry. I mean, why cab't everyone just play that game and copy it?

I mean Capcom has alreday shown everyone what a control scheme from a fixed camera point should look like. Although, considering they can't even apply it to there own games, I guess it's not that suprkillising. But I digress.

The graphics are pretty solid for the Gamecube. There are some great lighting effects and the design are art elements just get better the further you get in the game. The storyline is hadled well and is rather Lovecraftian. If you don't get that reference, it's because you suck.

The downside is that the game moves rather slow. It's less of an action game and more of a adventure/puzzle game with some combat thrown in. Which is fine and LOOK BEHIND YOU dandy but the combat can be really slow and sometimes the levels themsleves are kinda boring.

All in all Eternal Darkness is one of those games that is really good, but not quite great. In fact, it comes so close to being great, and fails, that it almost makes it worse.

C'est la vie. (American children, yes there are other languages in the world)

Oh, and there's some type of "Insanity effect" thing that's supposed to make everything all weird, but I didn't noticezzzz.
