Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds

Jul 29, 2002 12:13pm CST
If there is one game that just begs for a remake it is this series of games, Magic Carpet. If you never played this series you really missed out. Sure, you could go back and play it now, but lets face it, the dated graphics of the game is going to make that unenjoyable for most. Still, it is wonderful to take a walk to memory lane with this outstanding game.

This game is basically a cross between a RTS, FPS, and flying game. You ride on a magic carpet of course, and the goal is to go around killing monsters to gain their mana, use that to build up your base, and then attack and kill the other wizards in the area. There are just a HUGE amount of spells, and many of them are very powerful. For example, there is one spell that you can cast that will make a volcano sprout up from the ground and start spewing lava on everything around it. This game had multiplayer, but I never really tried that. I am sure it would be fun though.

Like I said, I sure hope that someone makes a remake of this game. With today's computing power and networking capabilities you could turn this into a very enjoyable game. Lets hope that happens sometime in the near future :)
