Your weekend reading assignment is to check out this feature on GameSpot which looks at the world of professional gaming. It's a fairly well written piece and gives a good history of the good old PGL and CPL

The CPL has proven that professional gaming is sustainable. What it is now trying to prove is exactly how far it can go. A lot of gamers would like to know the answer. [snip] GX Media now owns the PGL, although Fong says it's still unclear what the future holds for a league that exists in name only.
