Call of Duty: Black Ops Chat Thread and Discussion

23
Just over six months after being announced, Call of Duty: Black Ops has arrived on store shelves. Given the monster sales success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the launch was unsurprisingly a big hoohah with midnight openings, parties and swag. Did you brave the November weather to pick up a copy? Our Xav did and had... an eventful time.

It's been a bit of a bumpy launch, though. Those who bought Cod Blops on PC from a digital distributor are still at the mercy of the Steam timer while those who do get to play aren't faring much better, with many reporting unusually poor performance.

Will you be hopping aboard the Blops train? If you already have, which platform and how are you finding it? If you belong to the very vocal group disenfranchised with the franchise, what would it take to rekindle your interest in Cod?

Be sure to check out Garnett's review to discover his verdict on Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Game is not optimized for PC. It is a console port and running bad on PC's. Everyone has the performance problem thanks to Treyarch and multiplayer is can't playable on PC. I hope they will release a patch very soon.

Haven't had a chance to try my copy yet. Hope this isn't entirely true. :( As it's precisely what I was worried about with sucky Treytarch at the helm. :(

From what I can find it looks like the game is not running so good on Core 2 Duo's, but is running fairly good on i7's.

framerate seems fine on my i7/gtx 480, but mouselook feels laggy and off when I played online.

Definitely not much of a console port.
