The launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops has arrived with a spectacle of gunfights, explosions and the apocalyptic sounds of The Rolling Stones' song 'Gimme Shelter' to remind us that the Cold War-era shooter is now just a shot away, just a shot away.

Cod Blops will be released for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS on November 9, developed by Call of Duty: World at War dev Treyarch and published by Activision.

i still don't know about this one. i need to know how long the SP is and if the mod tools will actually happen and if they aren't just some "forge" bullshit.

I'm the same way - I couldn't really care any less about MP. Unfortunately, for games like these, they are particularity aimed at the MP core players. SP is just tacked on and half-assed.

I think I was about the only one who actually enjoyed playing through COD MW2's SP...oh well, I'll be picking this one anyway.

While the story kinda went off the deep end near the last 1/3 of the game, I gotta say the gameplay and sequences were amazing. Too bad the MP was so damn shitty on PC. It really ruined the game for me.

I love how a bunch of guys at Treyarch who are working so many days an hours they don't even know what day it is anymore because they have been busting their asses on the SP for so long, are now sitting at their desks eating some awful unhealthy probably company provided gruel to save time so they don't have to go out to get food, are reading that their work is just tacked on and half assed.

So you've played it already, then, eh GoneCommando? If not, you should probably shut it until you can speak from experience.

None of the CoD franchise had half-assed single player imo. The story was sure half-assed, but the rest of it always felt very polished and cinematic to me.

Agreed, this is where Medal of Honor fell flat on its face (the SP longevity and variety, or lack thereof).

The initial teasers of Medal of Honor made it seem like it could be a more mature modern military shooter. Then the SP gameplay video came out, and I thought, "A bit janky, but workable if it's long and varied enough." Then the reviews came out, and it was revealed as 4 hours of roller-coaster scripting with ripoffs of CoD4 and MW2 mechanics.

I'm intentionally avoiding all press on this game to avoid any false impressions of it. Let the reviewers tear it a new hole by Veteran's Day.

Yeah, they totally overhyped the MoH SP. It was totally fucking lackluster.

The SP was ok, but like you said, it copied too much from CoD4 and MW2. I honestly wish EA would quit with these formulas that they think will make a great game. I like the MP to MoH, but I don't need more Battlefield of Honor games. I don't get what these suits at EA and Activision are thinking sometimes.

this is just another way of saying youre only interested in the features that will work on the pirated version

"whoa whoa WHOA get a load of this guy he wants to play single player. must be a pirate."

how the hell do you come to that conclusion

Yes, everyone who is picky about what he buys is now most likely a criminal. The corporate piracy panic campaign seems to succeed. Not to forget that pirates where playing MW2 online anyway.

Im the opposite, dont care if they even HAVE an SP as long as a MP is an improvement on COD4s (MW2 went backwards in competitive play)

Seriously, I wish they could just sell me the MP part of the package.
