Batman: Arkham City Gets First Official Bat-Screens

5
The first officially-released screenshots of Batman: Arkham City have arrived, showing The Dark Knight pummeling the cowardly and superstitious criminal element--and bearing a striking resemblance to the supposed leaked screens from a while back.

As if there were any doubt that those mysterious images were from developer Rocksteady's sequel to its 2009 open-world action-adventure Batman: Arkham Asylum, an official render of Arkham City's Harley Quinn matches her leaked look perfectly.

Batman: Arkham City sees the infamous asylum sprawling out into a fortified section of Gotham City, though one imagines that doesn't solve many problems as we see Bats is still popping in to bump heads together. Batman's bat-bag of bat-tricks will be expanded to include such new tricks as interrogating punks for information and clues.

With Batman: Arkham City's release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 not due until fall 2011, publisher Warner Bros.--who acquired a majority stake in Rocksteady Studios back in February--is staying relatively quiet on the much-anticipated sequel for now. Hopefully this media blast indicates lips are starting to loosen.
