The Perils of Summer continue and, like clockwork, we continue to evade them, thanks in small part to Steam's ongoing sales. Today's highlights include Mass Effect 2 for 40% off, Shatter for $2.50 and the obligatory Torchlight price drop to $5.00.

For today, your complete options are:

As always, today's specific deals are only available for 24 hours; however, (nearly) the entire Steam catalog is being discounted during the promotion. The promotion concludes on July 4; otherwise known as the birthdate of freedom and explosions.

Get Torchlight, then also download torchleech (mod management utility, super easy to use) and then refer to this thread:

Not a bad idea. RFG was on a lot of the "best games of 2009" lists, and the destructibility of the engine can not be matched anywhere else. I like it more than GTA and other "open world" games because in RFG, if you hate that you keep hitting that building while chasing a message or courier mission, you can just simply go and smash the bulding to bits with your hammer and then problem solved! PLENTY to do in this game...

I do not play Torchlight, but I know of a few folks who do. SOLID game. If you need a Diablo "fix" and can not grab the original Diablo games, Torchlight is a more than worthy substitute.

Judging from the video the destruction didn't look as legit as Bad Company 2... but i've not played the full version.

Torchlight is fantastic and worth every penny.

They've done a great job of getting in on every major sale Valve has had since the game was released.

Torchlight is a fantastic game. The mod community is very active and only adds to the fun.

Looks like I'll be picking up Red Faction and Flatout. Hard to beat $7! I would get the aforementioned Torchlight and ME2 if I didn't already have them.
