PC Gaming Alliance Adds New Members

The ranks of the PC Gaming Alliance continue to swell, as the industry consortium today announced that software piracy protection firm Arxan Technologies, hardware maker Corsair and peripheral maker Logitech have joined as members.

In addition, peripheral maker Razer has joined the organization's board.

"These companies join others in the gaming ecosystem to push the PC gaming industry forward for the benefit of consumers world-wide," the non-profit consortium said in today's announcement. "Their contributions will keep PC gaming at the forefront of the industry, help it to overcome its challenges, and continue to fulfill its limitless potential.

Other PC Gaming Alliance members include AMD, Intel, Dell, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Capcom, Sony DADC, GameStop and Gas Powered Games, with the organization billing itself as "the authoritative voice of PC Gaming world-wide." The consortium also offers yearly reports on the state of PC gaming, the last of which declared that the worldwide PC gaming software market pulled in some $13.1 billion during 2009.

Where's Valve? Why is Epic Games on the PC Gaming Alliance? Didn't they kill the Unreal Tournament series, and made their games exclusive to Xbox 360? I'm surprise that Gamestop is there too.

    Exactly, they have pretty much failed at goals they set at the founding. I remember one their main goals was to standardize the system requirements and issues concerning DRM. You are absolutely right its just a PR group now to counter the FUD attacks from the other side plain and simple.
    
    If they really want people treat this group seriously they need start being more than a PC social club and start working on the promises they made at founding.

  Epic Games is there because the vast majority of shooters license the Unreal engine (which is for the PC as well as consoles)

  So called PC alliance is full of shit. MS is there, and they are paying publishers/devs that they would make their games X360 exclusive. Yeah, thanks for helping out PC gaming.

    My thoughts too. How is it possible MS can be in this Alliance yet force games like Alan Wake to be 360 only? Completely backwards.

  Exactly! Valve isnt on the Alliance but Microsoft is? Valve has always put PC gamers first, developed exclusive content, and listened to customers while Microsoft is the exact opposite.

  How exactly does GameStop figure it is "promoting PC gaming" when they have the most craptastic, virtually non-existent selection of PC titles in their retail stores?

    Wallmart and Best buy have a bigger selection of PC games not to mention sell parts for gaming PCs. Gamespot does nothing to support PC as a real gaming platform.

      exactly, If I'm gonna buy a PC game from a B&M store then I either go to walmart or target now.
      gamestop just doesnt have a good selection to choose from.
      
      So far I pretty much bought all my pc games from gogamer or amazon though
