EA Affirms Project Natal, PlayStation Motion Control Support at Launch

Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 motion-tracking add-ons coming in late 2010 will launch alongside support from publisher Electronic Arts, the company has affirmed.

"With respect to the motion control games on [Project] Natal / Xbox and the Sony Motion Controller, we will be supporting both of those platforms at launch," explained EA COO John Schappert in a conference call. "We don't have any titles to announce right now on those, but we will be supporting those and we are hopeful on those."

While Schappert was vague on the specific titles, the company noted that its motion-centric exercise franchise EA SPORTS Active--an obvious pick for Project Natal and PlayStation Motion support--will be expanding beyond the Wii later this year, with a resume from an EA Canada staffer listing PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations.

Another potential EA Project Natal / PlayStation Motion Control title is Steven Spielberg's block-knocker Boom Blox, as a job listing from the team behind the series noted that its next project would be on "next generation" platforms instead of the Wii.

Project Natal and PlayStation Motion Control versions of EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis are also likely, as EA SPORTS head Peter Moore told VG247 that it had "decided just to wait for Natal and for the Sony Motion Controller to come out" before releasing the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 iterations that were delayed after the Wii version hit.
