EA Goes to South Africa with 2010 FIFA World Cup

As the World Cup only occurs once every four years, Electronic Arts has announced that it will once again be celebrating the tournament with a dedicated FIFA video game.

Hitting North America on April 27 then Europe and Asia beginning April 30, FIFA World Cup South Africa will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PSP--providing footy fans with plenty of time to play out the possibilities before the tourney kicks off in June.

EA Canada, the studio behind the annual FIFA games released each fall, is developing the entry, which will vary in terms of features and content from platform to platform.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions promise "all 199 national teams that took part in qualification, all 10 official stadiums to be used in South Africa and stadiums from each qualifying region," along with the expected online and offline multiplayer.

The Wii version sports "an art style that celebrates the cultural vibrancy of the first FIFA World Cup to be held in Africa," according to Electronic Arts, the same company that said last year's Madden NFL 10 "epitomizes what fun looks like on the Wii."

Further detailing 2010 FIFA World Cup Wii, Electronic Arts explained:

EA SPORTS 2010 FIFA World Cup on the Wii is an action-packed soccer game that brings friends together in their living rooms to compete for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Travel around the world virtually to take on all 32 nations competing in South Africa in head-to-head challenges in Zakumi's Dream Team mode. Start the journey with random players and then build your team by stealing an opposition player after each victory. Win a challenge and pick a player until you have conquered the world. Plus, take your team to a friend's house on your Wii Remote.

I wish they could just make this DLC. I want to play a World Cup in the game, but I'm not buying a standalone game to do it after buying them every year for the last four.

I don't mind buying the yearly Fifa, it has improved significantly from 08 to 09 to 10, but yeah, I'm not really down to buy a full game, this would kick ass a 15-20 dollar DLC
