As suggested months ago by a leaked Sega document, Rare's platforming mascots Banjo and Kazooie have joined the roster of racers in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.

Of course, given that the furry duo is owned by Xbox 360 maker Microsoft, Banjo and Kazooie will only appear in the Xbox 360 version. They are joined by the addition of Xbox Avatars as playable characters, allowing players to race as their virtual selves, that is, so long as they're playing on Xbox 360.

The leaked document indicated that the PlayStation 3 version could sport exclusive characters--"not ratchet and clank," it noted--but no confirmation yet. Developed by Sumo Digital, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is slated to hit PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS in February, with the official site also listing a downloadable PC version.

I can't wait to see how Sega will disappoint us on this one! It looks cool but Sega's track record is horrible for games like this. And it also raises that ever long question on why Sonic the Hedgehog would travel by car when he runs faster.

Yea I'm sure they will find a way. Modnation Racers looks far more interesting. It's looking like it'll be Mario Kart meets LittleBigPlanet.
