Dead Space Sequel to Pack Online Multiplayer?

Visceral Games' Dead Space sequel could bring online multiplayer to the sci-fi horror series, an EA job listing picked up on by Joystiq has revealed.

The listing on industry networking site LinkedIn seeks an "Senior Online Level Designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3." While it is not stated whether the online play will be competitive or cooperative, separate multiplayer levels are indicated.

Though only Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are mentioned--Dead Space also hit PC--theoretically this could simply indicate that consoles are the sequel's main focus.

Dead Space 2 has still yet to be formally announced, though its existence has been previously revealed by other job listings and statements by various EA figures.

Visceral Games--formerly EA Redwood Shores--recently released the Wii on-rails shooter prequel Dead Space Extraction to a poor sales reception and is currently developing the action allegory Dante's Inferno, due out on February 9.

Could be good, but multiplayer is unnecessary.

This, every dev is tagging on multiplayer no matter what nowadays - which for games that it does not make sense for, takes away valuable resources from the sp experience.

Look what happened to Condemned 2 :\

Disagreed. That used to be the case years ago. Nowadays the MP experience is typically engineered from the ground up to stand on its own.

Condemned 2 was bad not because of multiplayer, but because they got to far away from condemned 1...
