id Promises Doom 4 News at QuakeCon 2010

Those hoping id Software would today reveal more information about the next Doom entry are bound to be disappointed, as CEO Todd Hollenshead used this year's QuakeCon press conference to promise more details at next year's event.

"When we show it to you, you're gonna love it," he promised the clamoring crowd.

Studio technical director John Carmack later added that the project represents "the most tightly managed approach" that the company has ever used, as, thanks to continuing work on the id Tech 5 engine and Rage, some of the development tools and technology for Doom 4 already exist and will not need to be crafted in tandem with the game.

Big chance I'm gonna love it if it is not like the 3rd Doom.

The opposite for me most likely. I played Doom ! and II again recently, and frankly, I got bored. Doom 3 was awesome, but I love space horror with stuff that jumps out at you.

I hated Doom 3, well it was ok but it left me sorely disappointed! WTF happend to all the impaled bodies, bodies chained to walls all torn up, sick twisted human torture chambers with pools of blood and satanic stuff everywhere? Doom 3 rendition of hell, what a joke! It reminded me of playing American McGee's Alice, during the Mad Hatter stages. My idea of hell isnt some tripped out desolate land filled with imps and crap. Quite frankly, the quality of Doom since Doom 3 has left me a sour taste in my mouth. So when Todd says we are gonna love it, its a possibility but will it truely live up to Doom standards? Time will tell but here is hoping for the best.
