Grand Theft Auto 4 'Gay Tony' DLC Arrives Oct. 29

17
Rockstar today announced that The Ballad of Gay Tony, the next episodic content release for Grand Theft Auto IV, will launch worldwide on October 29 according to developer Rockstar.

The downloadable content will sell for $20. A retail disc that compiles both episodes--dubbed "Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City"--will sell for $40 on the same day, and will not require the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

Rockstar also released the first promotional desktop image for Gay Tony, viewable above.

The Ballad of Gay Tony puts players in the role of Luis Lopez, an assistant to "legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka 'Gay Tony')." The chapter will depict the challenges of "competing loyalties of family and friends" and the "uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price."

i wish they'd plan a patch that fixed the damn game, if i tweak the settings around for a while i can get it to run smoothly for about 10 mins then it begins to degrade into choppy-framerate madness no matter what. if i try going back to the settings and tweaking more stuff its really hit and miss whether it will help. the actual settings i pick don't seem to matter a whole lot, just whether the game decides it wants to function.

The game is EXTREMELY demanding of your CPU. If you can play for 10 minutes before the FPS starts dropping your proc may be underclocking itself due to heat issues. Have you ever checked to see if it was a system problem instead of assuming it was the game? Maybe run Prime95/CoreTemp and see what happens?

i suppose i could try that out, it was a while ago when i last messed around with it and at the time i was browsing the official forums reading through user fixes and suggestions and what not. I tired out memturbo for.... i forget why exactly haha, but to fix the memory issues i think i was having.

Im running a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ so im thinking that ought to be a enough. Sometimes i could get the game running smooth on pretty low settings, then after a bit it would start to chug, and other times it would run just as smooth on med-high settings for a bit before chugging again.

I dont have problems of anywhere near this severity, and certainly not the same symptoms in any other game, so i dont believe it would be a proc heat issue because i would guess that i would see some sort of trouble in other games as well. But to be honest i dont know what kind of temperatures its running at.

i'll give prime95 and coretemp a shot when i one day decide to give the game another round of troubleshooting or whatever, so i appreciate the suggestion.I love the game, im bummed it hasnt worked out so far.

I believe that they patched the game twice (or was it 3 times now) on PC and now it has been running quite smoothly. Then again, it's a bit 'too little, too late'. I dont think they ever have any intention on putting the DLC out on PC though..In my opinion, the PC version got treated so badly post-release that it left a bad taste in my mouth...I haven't got it installed/played again for months now..I got it on Steam weekend sale, so its not that bad. Just wish they support the PC more...
