Battlefield Heroes Due by April

DICE's free-to-play PC multiplayer shooter Battlefield Heroes will be released no later than March 31, 2009, according to financial documents from publisher Electronic Arts.

In the documents, the oft-delayed game is listed among the company's releases for its current fiscal quarter, which runs from the beginning of January to the end of March.

Revealed over a year ago, Heroes will be free-to-play through its web site, and will be supported financially by out-of-game ads and microtransactions for in-game items.

I tried the beta back in fall '08 and the game was terrible. It had the gameplay and depth of a browser game at best. If that hasn't changed dramatically by now I don't see this having any kind of success.

Well the thing is, it IS a browser game.
