World of Warcraft Debuts Paid 'Character Re-Customization'

18
Months after Blizzard confirmed that it would offer some sort of "paid character customization" in World of Warcraft and explained the controversial process, the option to re-customize a character's appearance once over is now available for $15.

"Character Re-Customization covers all available cosmetic options for a single character and includes an optional name change to go with your new look," reads the Community Site. "You can now change a character's gender, face, skin color, and other cosmetic features (such as tauren horn styles or a night elf's facial markings)."

As the process is limited to purely cosmetic options, players of the popular PC MMO are not able to change their class or race. To start "reinventing the new you," World of Warcraft subscribers simply need login to their account page.

The name change is the big one. People used to have to do crazy GM tricks to do this.

They've been doing paid name changes ($10) for a year.

Oh shit I didn't even realize. Do people with bad reputations use it to hide?
I don't know if it still happens but there used to be ninja guilds, etc.

I just checked this sweet detective app, and someone on our server went from Curbstomp to Raacist to (new, inoffensive name).

Some have tried, but you get renamed on friend and ignore lists, so you're likely to get found out immediately. I've seen people realm transfer with a name change to try to get away from a bad reputation.
