Microsoft Offers Discounted Hard Drives, Memory Units in Preparation for New Xbox Experience

16
Following the news that Microsoft's New Xbox Experience update will require 128MB of storage to run, the company is now offering Xbox 360 Core and Arcade owners sizable discounts on storage solutions to prepare for the update.

The Xbox 360 Memory Upgrade Program offers Xbox 360 Core owners free 512MB memory cards, or the option of buying a $20 20GB hard drive. Xbox 360 Arcade owners can purchase a package including three months of Xbox Live Gold membership and a 20GB hard drive for $30.

The New Xbox Experience, with its Mii-like avatars and Netflix support, launches on November 19.

Offering the Core owners a 20GB hard drive seems pointless to me, since the Core has either the 60GB or 20GB drive depending on when you bought it.

I would have jumped on this had it been the 120GB drive say, $50 or $60.

      Cores don't have hard drives?

I thought it was the Arcades that don't have hard drives and that they renamed the Pro to the Core?

I am so behind on this whole million different versions thing I guess.

No, the Core became Arcade. Arcade is bundled with 5 XBLA titles and a 512MB Memory unit.

you're thinking of the premium not core.
