Call of Duty: World at War to See Major DLC Push

Update: Treyarch has announced that the Day One Advantage will provide a high-level rifle for pre-orders, or a light machinegun for those purchasing the collector's edition. Outside of the Day One Advantage, the guns will have to be earned via gaining experience in multiplayer.

Original story: Activision is planning a wealth of downloadable content for Treyarch's upcoming shooter Call of Duty: World at War.

According to Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith, Call of Duty: World at War will be supported by "3x the amount of content" than was supplied for Call of Duty 4, as well as "premium content called 'Day One Advantage.'"

While Activision did not detail the "Day One Advantage," blog Alt+F4 claims the feature will accelerate the earning of experience points during online play. Only a single map pack was provided for Infinity Ward's wildly popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The Variety Map Pack, which sold for 800 Microsoft Points ($10), was downloaded by over one million gamers in nine days, a record for Xbox Live DLC.
