See the New PSP's Substantially Improved Screen

14
Earlier this week, Sony announced that it would be releasing a new PSP model with a "wider color gamut and anti-reflection technology."

Now, Japanese publication Famitsu has provided the comparison to the left, which compares the new PSP-3000 (bottom) to the PSP-2000 model (top) that arrived last fall.

Sporting a built-in microphone as well, the new PSP arrives worldwide in October.

It will arrive in North America on October 14 as part of the $199 Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack bundle, which includes a copy of High Impact's platformer Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, a download code for SCE Japan's puzzler echochrome, a copy of the National Treasure 2 film, and a 1GB Memory Stick.

I know man, it's like that PSP you bought doesn't even play games or do anything it was advertised to anymore.

The whole sentiment is that no matter how long you wait to adopt, you are always bested by something at the same or lesser price within months, and sometimes weeks. If these revisions were years apart, that would be different, such as the PS2 large to slim revision that was 4 years into its lifespan. Case in point: I just bought an XBox 360 Pro in May, 20GB version for 399.99. That same money could now get me a 60GB, and we're a scant 3 months down the road. Considering I'm a pretty light downloader and my HDD is well over half full, yes, it's annoying.

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a PSP like... three days ago :(

This news started popping up pretty much later that day. This gun barrel is cold and tastes like metal.

I sold my original PSP about a month after the slim version was announced, and it still sold well on Ebay. So if it really bothers you that a better screen is coming out, you could sell for a little loss, wait until release, and then get the new system.
