Guitar Hero 4 Titled Guitar Hero World Tour

Publisher Activision has revealed that the next entry in the Neversoft-developer music series is titled Guitar Hero World Tour, and will arrive on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii this fall.

Though the title had yet to be officially announced, the existence of a new Guitar Hero game this fall was public knowledge, with many referring to it as Guitar Hero IV.

The company further confirmed all of the details reported in the game's unofficial unveiling last week, including the addition of vocals, a five-pad drum kit it claims are "the most realistic drums," and the ability to record and release your own music.

Four bands have been confirmed thus far for the game--Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime--with all songs expected to be master tracks provided by record labels.

It is not yet known if the instruments of Guitar Hero World Tour will be cross-compatible with Harmonix's Rock Band and Zoe Mode's Rock Revolution or vice versa, though it does not appear likely given the differing number of drum inputs and the companies' past feuding.
