PixelJunk Monsters Encore Coming Tomorrow

The previously announced expansion for Q-Games PixelJunk Monsters will hit the PlayStation Store tomorrow at a $5.99 price point, Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed on the PlayStation Blog.

The expansion, entitled PixelJunk Monsters Encore, includes a new island, 15 new levels, five new music tracks and item cost and availability revisions. Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert said that the expansion was created to end his wife's ceaseless nagging for more content.

"My wife simply loved the game so much she would badger me every day for more levels, so in the end I caved in," Cuthbert said. "Of course, we were also getting mails every day from people asking for more so we simply decided to listen to everyone."

The Shacknews-endorsed downloadable tower defense title was released on the PlayStation Store last January for $7.99.

    Hooray!

I still haven't managed to do any of the hard levels perfectly on the original, but goddamn if it's not one of the best PS3 titles.

Wow, I played the demo of this and was totally bored. It was just monsters coming in from the left and you build towers to wipe them out before they get to the right. Did I miss something here?

How many stages are in the full game? When I do eventually spend my "Economic Stimulus" check on a PS3, this looks like something that might be fun to pick up.

I love me some tower defense ^_^

There's 20 stages in the original game.

The game is fun in and of itself, but what keeps me coming back is that you receive a score based on a number of factors (including number of towers built, money earned, money lost, gems spent, etc), so there's the appeal of trying to beat your own score (and be ranked online).

I've rarely gotten so much use out of a title that was only $10.
