Fallout 3 Collector's Edition Revealed

44
Game retailer GameStop has pulled back the curtain on the Collector's Edition for Bethesda's post-apocalyptic action-RPG Fallout 3 (PC, PS3, X360).

Packaged in a special Vault-Tech Lunch Box, the Collector's Edition includes a Vault Boy Bobblehead, a hardcover art book and a making-of DVD, along with the game itself.

GameStop notes that the console iterations of the Collector's Edition will run $79.99, while the PC version clocks in at $69.99. The regular edition of the game is expected to sell for $20 less, making it $59.99 for consoles and $49.99 on PC.

Fallout 3 is slated to arrive this fall, with GameStop providing a tentative and wholly unconfirmed release date of October 7. For more on the title, check out our recent batch of impressions.

I'd like it to be that simple, but I kinda wish I'd gotten Bioshock for 360 instead of PC, now. Long (like I mean 15 min) load times, buggy graphics setting that kept on resetting, and sketchy frame rates kinda destroyed my immersion. I just don't want to make the same mistake twice. Mods are a good argument, too, though.

He's probably running Vista. I had all sorts of problems with Bioshock on Vista, but I've had better luck on XP.

Haven't had a single of those problems, even with x64 vista, so don't try to make it sound like it's all a vista problem.

        360. I don't have a PC that will be able to run it at the same graphic fidelity as the 360, plus I've started growing accustomed to playing a lot of cross-platform games on the 360.

360 definately, I have a pc that will play it but Id still prefer it on my couch with a 37 inch screen.

        PC.

Mods will give this game gobs and gobs of replay value that those poor 360 owners can only dream of.

PC. If there's something you don't like or think could be better about the mechanics or interface, you can probably find a mod that improves it.

Definitely PC because you KNOW that people are going to mod and hack the living shit out of it. Missing out on that would just make me sad.

        and I don't own a 360 or a PS3.

PC...mouse and keyboard, surround sound, better graphics/higher resolution, mods, 3rd party patches, new graphics cards coming out to allow more graphical goodies as well as full blown anti-aliasing at all times, might be possible with the upcoming generation of graphics cards, which will be what...3-4 years newer, and about 200-500% more powerful than the system setups(combined total performence increase) than when Oblivion was released...basically think Crysis vs Oblivion...HUGE difference, the Xbox 360 can't run Crysis(if it could) without dropping lots of graphical goodies, and without the ability to upgrade, are stuck with what they have until a new generation of consoles comes out(xbox180*n), (playstation 1*n), (nintendo "insert perverted, easily misinterpreted, questionably themed name here"...Nintendo Wiid(pronounced weed), While the PC's can continuously be upgraded to support all the new stuff.

So...let the petition for the next generation Nintendo consoles name commence

Buy for PC to support the platform and get mods. Rent for 360, if I want to try it there.

Shit yeah! I've never pre-ordered a game so far in advance before, the wait is going to be torture. The art book will be nice too, but i was kind of hoping they would do a special version of the owners manual instead :(

PC version is supposed to have Live achievements, so absolutely PC for sure here. No reason to get the 360 one unless your PC just can't run the game.

Woa woa,....not GFWL though is it? If so then I'm not going to be happy. Gears of War has terrible GFWL support.

Yeah, I wish GFWL would just roll over and die already >:(

          From the recent Gamespot preview:

"In fact, the Xbox 360 version of the game (and the PC version of the game, which is being planned to include Games for Windows Live Functionality) will have achievement points that will require you to play through more than once."

Just so long as I don't HAVE to use GFWL to play it (given that it's a single-player title), then honestly I'm not too concerned.

This is very disappointing. There had better be a way to turn it off, because having random "LOGGED OUT" messages appear in my face and then "PLEASE LOGIN TO GET DAT ACHIEVEMENT" every single time I trigger one afterwards pisses me off. It's going to be even worse in an RPG that relies on atmosphere.

Honestly - I don't want to see it. I'd rather it be completely optional, and not like GOW where you cannot even have a save without first creating an account.

God that sounds horrible....I sincerely hope that won't be the case.

And this also means that there is 0 chance that we'll see a Steam version either (not that I had my hopes up or anything).
