Evolution Studios' off-road racer MotorStorm 2 (PS3) will sport 16-person online multiplayer and 4-player split-screen support when it arrives this fall, publisher and studio owner Sony Computer Entertainment has announced.

Along with 16 new multi-path tracks and a new island setting, the upcoming sequel will add monster trucks to the series, which also features ATVs, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and big rigs.

An offline split-screen mode was one of the most requested features from the original, and the bump to 16 online players represents an increase from the first game's 12-person online mode.

A pre-rendered teaser accompanied the details, showcasing the game's new setting.

The teaser video is pretty cool. It's just FMV but it's clear from it that they know what made the last one work. The new setting should offer a lot more creative freedom than the desert. Hope they fix the AI and add more modes.
