More Street Fighter 4 Gameplay Details, Artwork

10
Continuing the barrage of Street Fighter IV media, Capcom has issued concept artwork of the nine combatants revealed thus far along with new gameplay details.

A number of character descriptions were unveiled along with the art--we have provided these insightful and often humorous statements underneath each image.

As for the details of the new gameplay mechanics--Focus Attacks, Ultra Combos--and teases of other things to come, that information follows:

Focus Attacks

The new Focus Attack system combines both defense and attack in one powerful package! Enter the Focus Attack command and your character enters a special preparation pose (This pose is defensive and offers protection from attack).

Once the character has focused enough energy, they automatically let loose a devestating attack, allowing the player to defense against incoming blows and immediately follow up with a powerful counterattack! (Of course, not all moves are susceptible to this technique. Be careful!) You can also use this to cancel certain actions (Even the defensive pose itself!), lending the system incredible depth.

Ultra Combos

Take Super Combos to the next level with Ultra Combos! Take a look at Ryu's Ultra Combo below. Notice the gauge at the top of the screen? Perhaps it's linked with the Ultra Combo system...

Revolutionary Visuals

Revolutionary visuals allow Dhalsim's limbs to stretch like never before.

Zangief's powerful physique and over the top moves look better than ever thanks to modern technology!

Returning Fighter Teasings

Have their fighting stylings changed? We'll just have to wait with baited breath to see!

Chun-Li displays her famous Hyakuretsukyaku. Could it be even more powerful now?

C. Viper is about to be on the receiving end of a Kikoken. Judging by the effects, it looks like she may have some of her moves from Street Fighter III Third Strike...

More Returning Fighter Teasings

Somersault Kick! Has [Guile's] style evolved since we last saw him?

Will [E. Honda] dazzle us with his Super Headbutt? What about his other moves?

No platform or release details have been announced for Street Fighter IV, though it will be playable at upcoming events, including Japan's AOU 2008 Amusement Expo, which begins later this week. For more on the long-awaited fighter, check out the initial batch of details.

You know, i posted that, and realized it wasnt much of a snob post. the airbrushing and the paint splatter really make me think of souvenir felt paintings. Souvenir felt paintings are generally trashy garbage, it doesnt take an art snob to recognize that. if my opinion somehow makes me a starbucking fashion designer, then i'd take it over calling something like that tasteful. I'm sorry, i think the concept art would be great with just the exaggerated brush strokes, the extra crap they threw in makes them looks stupid.
