Silent Hill: Origins Rumored As Next PSP to PS2 Port

3
Owing to retailer listings featuring release dates and box art, rumors are circulating that Climax Studios' Silent Hill: Origins (PSP) might be making an appearance on the PS2.

While both sites feature the same official-looking box art, they differ on release date. Amazon lists the PS2 version's release as March 4, 2008, whereas GameFly has it down for March 31.

Porting marquee PSP releases is a rising trend of late, with Sony Bend's Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Rockstar Leeds' Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories having already made the jump to the PlayStation 2. Ports of High Impact Games' Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and Ready at Dawn's upcoming God of War: Chains of Olympus have also been rumored.

Both Climax Studios and Konami were reached for comment on the rumor. A representative of Konami responded but was unable to issue an official statement, while Climax has yet to respond.

Will definitely pick up SH: Origins, and God of War: Chains of Olympus would be nice as well.

Man, there's almost no reason to get a PSP or PS3 these days. Most interesting PS3 titles are going to 360 (barring MGS4, but that's probably just a matter of time) and any PSP titles I want are headed to PS2. Works for me.

Fuck, Chains of Olympus is half the reason I bought a PSP. GoWIII is the entire reason I bought a PS3, though I did that through GadgetCity.com and only spent ~$125 on it. Got lucky and by the time I'd finished the offers, the 60GB PS3 had dropped $100 in price, and since they sent me a $600 check and not the console itself...

Pretty much. Aside from the Dracula X remake and this, there's no compelling reason to own a PSP.
