PaRappa Creators Announce Wii Title

The dynamic duo behind PaRappa the Rapper (PSX, PSP) and Um Jammer Lammy (PSX), artist Rodney Alan Greenblat and game designer and musician Masaya Matsuura, are working on a new music-oriented Wii title.

Slated to arrive in late 2008, the game will be developed by NanaOn-Sha, the studio responsible for music-based efforts such as PaRappa and the import-only Vib Ribbon (PSX), and published by Majesco. According to Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton, the company hopes it will share "the same broad mass market appeal as successful music-based products like Activision's Guitar Hero and MTV's Rock Band."

"Matsuura-san and I share similar artistic perspectives so I welcomed the opportunity to re-team with him and NanaOn-Sha to produce a one-of-a-kind music game designed from the ground up for the Wii system," said Greenblat.

"Working with Rodney is a true creative collaboration," added Matsuura. "Majesco's publishing know-how and retail relationships allow us to stay focused on creating a game that is conceptually unique and, above all else, fun."
