Smash Bros. Brawl to Feature Level Editor, Daily Level Download

Nintendo's enormously-anticipated Wii fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl now features a stage editor. The surprises never end!

Further increasing Super Smash Bros. Brawl's comparisons to Halo 3 and providing more consolation for the game's recent delay into early 2008, series designer Masahiro Sakurai has revealed on the game's official site that it will ship with a level creation feature. Players will be able to construct levels based on any of the game's 2D backgrounds, placing 3D objects on top to create new stages and choosing the music that will accompany each stage.

Screenshots of the level editor show a wide variety of components, which can be flipped, shrunk, enlarged, and recolored. You will be able to send your new creations to friends (although the announcement somewhat annoyingly notes that recipients must be added both as Wii friends and Smash friends). Even better, you can upload your stages directly to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers, and every day Nintendo will choose a stage to send out to all online-enabled Smash owners.

"Mmm... That's amazing," writes Sakurai on the official site. We agree.

Brawl also supports video recording and screenshot snapping, with the products of both features able to be send through the internet's many tubes. The Wii brawler is expected to hit North America on February 10, 2008.

I'm surpised that they haven't even mentioned that. Have they stated if this was a feature, or has there already been a definite "no" to it?

I really have no idea, I was just wicked stoned and thought that would be an awesome feature to reveal right before the game was released.

      What you haven't bought a Wii yet!? j/k :)

On a more serious note. I just bought Metriod Prime and love it on the Wii. I hated the previous verisons using the Gamecube gampad. Gamepads + FPS + ME don't get along at all. I still would prefer a keyboard mouse for Metroid Prime but the Wiis controls are a great middle ground.
