Splash Damage's forthcoming 1.2 patch for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC) will add voice chat to the game and implement a number of other tweaks, studio owner and lead game designer Paul Wedgewood revealed on the game's community page.

The voice chat functionality comes complete with a wide array of configuration options, such as the ability to test any chatty devices in-game. Other changes include 7.1 speaker support, smarter bots, a threaded renderer that increases quad core processor performance, user interface improvements, and an overall greater general stability.

The patch also modifies the game's weapon damage based on statistics and user feedback. As a result, the pistol and blaster have become more accurate, and the shotgun and nailgun now has a faster rate of fire.

No specific date was provided for the patch, though the Wedgewood notes that it is finished and undergoing testing at publisher Activision. He also revealed that the studio has already begun work on the 1.3 patch and is putting the final touches on its Software Developers Kit.
