Soldier of Fortune Payback Announced, Media

16

Activision today officially announced Soldier of Fortune Payback, again confirming a retail listing for the game back in June. Due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this November, Soldier of Fortune Payback is said to feature gameplay that fans of the series know and love while including a damage system that "may be shocking to even experienced FPS players". In addition to a singleplayer campaign, Payback also features a variety of multiplayer options including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition game modes and persistent stat-tracking. Solier of Fortune Payback is being developed by PC-oriented Slovakian studio Cauldron, responsible for 2003's shooter Chaser (PC), 2005's action roleplayer Gene Troopers (PC, Xbox), and 2004's action game Conan (PC, PS2, Xbox, GCN), among others. You can find a trailer here and a set of screenshots here.

The gore is what's missing from all other games recreating war. In the Battlefield series it's a great problem for the atmosphere that gore coming from the excessive violence that war is, are left out and people just twitch when they get shot. :-(

the quality in the game seems different than the one here... I'm curious as to why the difference. Post processing effects?

watched it again... I think there's a different FOV in the gameplay vid with the gibbing... and when comparing it to the widescreen vid here, it appears to be very distorted.

that looked pretty bad to me... I was more impressed with the first video. The animation just seemed pretty poor.
