Bethesda Opens Fallout 3 Contest; Name A Perk, Get Some Swag (Maybe)

Oct 01, 2007 5:23pm CST tags: Bethesda, Fallout 3
Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Black Isle Studios' Fallout (PC), Fallout 3 developer Bethesda is running a contest that will allow one oh-so-lucky gamer to name one of the many Perks in the upcoming post apocalyptic RPG.

"Think of something in the spirit of Fallout," reads the age-gated entry page. "What would you really want your character to be able to do in the game? Don’t worry about any stat requirements or the level you would get it at. Just design a cool perk and we'll fit it in where it could go."

Bethesda is allowing entrants the freedom to create their own Vault Boy image that will accompany the Perk, and has also provided a generic set of illustrations for the not-so-artistic.

One grand prize winner will, depending on their preference, take home one of two grand prizes, which includes their choice of either an ATI or NVIDIA video card or an Xbox 360 Pro. That one special person will also receive Logitech G51 Gaming Speakers, a Vault Boy bobblehead, a Vault Tec lunchbox, a Vault Boy decal, a Fallout 3 t-shirt. A variety of runner-up and honorable mention prizes are also promised.

The contest ends at 11:59 EST on October 31, 2007--commonly referred to as Halloween. Fallout 3 itself won't arrive on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 until fall 2008, which right about now, feels like forever.
