Mercenaries 2 Officially Delayed

8
Pandemic Studios has confirmed the rumored delay of its open-ended soldier for hire life simulator Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PC, PS2, PS3, X360).

"The easy answer is that we wanted to time it more closely to the movie," Pandemic co-founder and president Josh Resnick told IGN. "But then we realized that we don't have a movie, so we just said, 'Aww hell, let's just make the game better.'"

Previously scheduled for a holiday 2007 release, Mercenaries 2 is now expected in Q1 2008.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

what's wrong with delaying this? There are several juggernauts that this would have to contend with. If anything this is helping to prolong the holiday season. There are only so many consumer dollars that companies can fight over. Instead of dumping everything on your base, better to spread it out over several months and potentially get more consumers to purchase more than just a couple titles during the big Christmas push.

Besides, there is never, ever, a reason to not add some polish to a title.

Yes it's sad, but at the same time my wallet is thanking me because god damn it was getting expensive to get all the games I wanted too, even with a gamefly account there just isn't enough time to play everything either.

Nothing, except now you complain about one of gaming's sweetest holiday releases "going south."

Your options are more limited, that's all. :)

Fine by me. I'm not going to have time to play all this stuff anyway.
