ThreadSpace: Hyperbol Yorba Linda, California-based Iocaine Studios has announced that its tactical action game ThreadSpace: Hyperbol, a finalist in the 2005 Independent Games Festival, is being revamped and further developed for a full PC release. Publisher Atari will be handling distribution worldwide.

"After the excitement of being a finalist in the Independent Games Festival, we reworked the game a bit and brought it to the next level," said Iocaine Studios president Jason Fader. "We've worked incredibly hard and believe in this game. This all started with just four guys working out of my dining room, getting by on the money we saved up from our day jobs--thanks to Atari, a small team like ours is able to get noticed and show the world what we can do."

In ThreadSpace, players use various types of ships and numerous types of projectiles in an attempt to destroy the ships of the opposing team. Though incorporating various real-time strategy conventions including structure building, the small scale and lack of resource management puts a greater emphasis on tactics and action, supporting up to 16 players simultaneousl. The game began development in 2003 by students at the University of California, Irvine, who became Iocaine Studios.

Atari plans to ship ThreadSpace: Hyperbol this summer. Several screenshots are available.
