Cyan Worlds Returns

7
Only a few weeks ago, Myst developer Cyan Worlds called it quits, laying off all of its staff and announcing that it would cease game development. However, company co-founder Rand Miller revealed to journalist Dean Takahashi in an email that, remarkably, the company was somehow saved in the 11th hour.
"We've had a reprieve. Managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat (that I can't give details about yet), so we rehired almost everybody. Crazy industry. It's giving me whiplash!"

He did not cite specific reasons for the news. Given that Myst V: End of Ages, the last title in the bestselling Myst series, was released only last week, it seems unlikely that it was better-than-expected sales that brought the company from the brink. It seems reasonable to assume that the company will have some sort of tentative product announcement at some point in the near future. After this, they've got some 'splaining to do.

UBIsoft pulled their fat from the fire. That much we know.

Unlikely, given that (for as much as we know) it was the lack of contract with them past Myst V that put them didn't help them.
