Two publisher related news items today. First up is Eidos, which seems to have been sold after several months of speculation. An investment group by the name of Elevation Partners has snapped up the company for $135 million in cash. U2 frontman Bono is on the company's board of directors. Most recently SCi was rumored to buying the company, and EA and Ubisoft were also mentioned at one point.

Meanwhile on U.S soil Electronic Arts issued its first ever mid-quarter profit warning. Blaming hardware shortages, slowing catalog sales, and lower than expected fourth quarter sales (for games like Need for Speed Underground 2 and NFL Street 2), EA says its results will not meet expectations. Shares dropped 12% in after-hours trading.
