Age of Empires 3 Announcement

24

The (at the moment very slow) Ensemble Studios website has been updated with the press release officially announcing Age of Empires 3. IGN's Q&A from last night is much more informative than the press release, which does mention that the game will be shipping in the second half of this year. Here are some more screenshots of the game too

I wish game companys would release screen shots of the actual gameplay not just pretty photoshopped pictures with models positioned just right to make it look like the sims.

It says "Actual in-game screenshot" below every screenshots on ES' website..... but yeah, it's probably all photoshopped. *roll eyes*

sure its a screenshot of the actual game but buildings and troops will never be positioned like that. RTSs are chaotic and not ment to look like its an overhead view of real life.

Yes that's true though, but saying it's photoshopped is a little over the top imo... Of course there are teasers and images to show off what the engine can do, I think pretty much all game companies do that, take any racing game for example, it's even more dramatic there.

Even the fps-movies released are directed and played several times to get a good look

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Especially with that big city shot...theres never going to be anything like that in game.

Actually there is according to the interview from last night. That looks like a shot of one of the "home cities" players start out from to colonize America.

That City shot has got to be a loading screen.

Screenshots and game sales can be statistically related, though (unlike review scores and sales). So I don't mind if people take the time to compose them well.

Plus, I'd rather see 1 well composed, interesting official screenshot than 1000 stupid reviewer-taken screenshots, any fucking day of the week.
