Much to my surprise, yesterday when I showed up to my Fishtank Interactive
meeting, I was told that Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth wouldn't
be shown either on the floor or in a behind closed doors meeting area. After
asking around quite a bit,
I
was given the chance to sit down with JoWood CTO Thomas Kirchenkamp, who
explained the reasons the game wasn't on display, and confirmed that it is very
much behind schedule, with their most recent milestone plan they received from
developer Headfirst projecting a Spring 2003 release. Here's an excerpt:
The one reason is, that the product
is seriously delayed, the last milestone plan we received from Headfirst --
the developers, said that
they...well, the plan was first to release in November of 2001. Then we put
an additional budget in it, and set for June 2002. Now we have the new milestone
plan, which arrived I think three weeks ago, which says Spring 2003. So this
is something we have to manage with the studio, and we're willing to do this,
but this is one reason why it's not here.
