After last night's Neo Geo confession, I received a few letters pointing me
towards some emulators. I appreciate the thought, but I'm not a big fan of emulators
beyond admiration for the technical prowess involved in their creation. When
I do eventually get a Neo Geo (and rest assured it will happen someday), I'll
want to play those games the way they were meant to be played. Just like I can't
imagine playing
Mario 64 without the N64 gamepad or
NiGHTS without
the Saturn's analog controller, those games were made to be played with those
awesome enormous joysticks.

- Don't be too surprised: the next Dragon
Quest/Warrior game is
going to take two to three years to complete. Compared to Dragon Warrior
VII, that's downright speedy. That means by the time it's out, we'll be
playing Final Fantasy XIII.
- The full interview with Dragon Quest creator
Yuji Horii referenced above can
be found (translated into English) at Video-Senki. Note that he says VIII
will be, "like nothing you've seen before." That's a pretty
dramatic difference from VII, which is everything we've seen before,
but really, really long.
