I had so much fun with the previous week-long LNC special, that I've decided
to do it again...today marks the first day of
Milk 'em Till it Hurts week.
Every day I'll be mentioning another franchise that has been milked beyond comprehension.
You think
Half-Life's re-releases are bad? You ain't seen nothing yet.
- So, just how good is Tony Hawk 3?
According
to GameSpot, it's absolutely perfect. I must admit, I've never
seen them award a game a 10 before. Never. Nintendo fans will be very happy
to hear the
game is now scheduled for the GameCube launch.
- Well, they can't all be winners...PSX.IGN
has posted a scathing review
of Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, the sequel to a game they reviewed
quite favorably.
- The Dreamcast version may have been DOA,
but at least the Playstation 2 port of Half-Life is going to ship.
Soon, in fact, as it
has officially gone gold.
- Good news for Castlevania fans: the
current word on the street is that the next title in the series will be
a 2D title, like the recently released Circle of the Moon, rather than
a 3D one like the N64 games, which weren't particularly well received.
- We can all relax now: Parappa
the Rapper 2 is coming
to America. After SCEA passed on the brilliant Vib Ribbon, this
wasn't necessarily a sure thing.
- Cube.IGN has gotten their hands on a final
GameCube, and they have posted
info galore on what we can expect from the box and the hidden Pikmin
demo included with Luigi's Mansion.
- Bizarre news of the evening: supposedly IBM
is working on a 1 GB hard drive add-on for the GameCube. There are a few
weird things about this story, not the least of which is the "TDK"
logo on that add-on. Still, if Nintendo does want to bring the GameCube online
eventually, there are worse things than a bundled MicroDrive.
Console Game of the Evening:
Dragon's Lair. I'd have to do some serious
hunting to verify this, but I'm pretty sure that this is after
Tetris (and
possibly
Pac-Man) the most ported game of all time. Virtually every multimedia
platform, successful or not has had a port of
Dragon's Lair. Here are some
of the more amusing ones: 3DO, CD-I, Jaguar, Game Boy Color (this one is actually
pretty cool), Sega CD, NES and DVD-Video.
