Half-Life Dreamcast Cancelled

Jun 15, 2001 7:12pm CST tags: Gearbox, Dreamcast
Rumors by various news sources have just been confirmed by Sierra, the Dreamcast version of Half-Life has been cancelled. Not surprising since the Dreamcast console has been cancelled, although word was that the port was pretty much done. This is where the Blue Shift mission originated from which was recently released for the PC. This is what Sierra had to say

Sierra regrets the cancellation of Half-Life for the Dreamcast due to changing market conditions.

And this is what Gearbox president Randy Pitchford had to say about the cancellation.

It would've been nice to see the product on shelves since there are some fun differences between Blue Shift PC and Blue Shift Dreamcast. But, mostly, my regrets go out to the guys at Captivation Digital Laboratories who worked very hard to make one of the most complex PC games ever made fit onto the 16mb Dreamcast system. I salute them and wish them luck in their future endeavors.
