Tolkien Online Lawsuit
All the Tolkien fans plan for excitement and then sorrow. It has been confirmed that
Sierra Online has plans to publish a massive multiplayer Tolkien universe game. Here comes
the bummer though, the developer MM3D has
filed a lawsuit against Sierra (Thanks Blues) who
they claim tried to change contract terms in the middle of development after seeing how
successful EverQuest has been. Basically according to the lawsuit Sierra saw the Verant
guys making a killing on EQ subscription fees and decided they wanted a bigger piece of
the subscription fee pie from MM3D. The MM3D guys disagree.
A Sierra spokesman said the company hadn't been served with the suit. Despite the filing, she said Sierra is in negotiations and MM3D, and declined further comment.
