Shack Feature: Valve 2006 Lineup
Valve's retail publisher Electronic Arts held its summer showcase event yesterday, and Half-Life developer was absolutely full of surprises. As you undoubtedly know by now, the company plans to ship the long awaited Team Fortress 2 with its upcoming Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and the company also released some brand new projects: an experimental game called Portal, and console ports of Half-Life 2 and its episodes. There are no public screenshots or videos, but you can read my impressions of Valve's presentation, and you'll know just about all there is to know at this early stage.

Newell described Team Fortress 2 as the "best looking, best playing class based multiplayer game." Considering how that segment is heating up these days, that's a steep promise, but the series' lineage is certainly there. It will be bundled with Episode Two, making the planned holiday season release a practically irresistable package. Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. I'm the console editor around these parts, so I should probably be more excited about the two upcoming consoles that will be hitting around that time, but Valve just made that a little difficult.
Solid gold Remo. Solid gold.

Im looking way more forward to this than TF2. The fact that TF2 will be coming out on PS3/360 means that itll not be a proper TF experience, and itll be suited to consoles.

Am i the only one who's allergic to statements like that? A little modesty wouldn't hurt, mr. Newell. Pride comes before a fall.

weren't it previously announced that tf2 will be a standalone game and because of that, it's development was made lethargically long and secretive?? now that it's announced as an added package to episode 2, that's the sign that it cannot live up to the hype that it previously promises. what a waste of time.
man, i missed tf1 and tfclassic days
