X05 Impressions - Part 2
More Xbox 360 game impressions today, as I continue my coverage of X05 with looks at Condemned: Criminal Origins, Gears of War, Perfect Dark Zero and NBA Live 06. There are also brief thoughts on Dead or Alive 4, Top Spin 2 and Ridge Racer 6.

Combat in Condemned game is brutal. Though you are equipped with a gun when you start out, it's not like you're just going to find ammo lying around. So before too long you start using axes, wrenches, shovels, or lead pipes to fend off the insane junkies that attack you. These guys themselves are equipped with similar weaponry, although the popular weapon of choice seems to be a 2x4 with rusty nails. And it's not like in other games where red might flash on your screen, or the screen shakes a little. Instead the camera follows the attack, so if you get hit in the face your perspective kind of recoils back and upwards. Similarly, whoever you are beating up will stumble before eventually regaining balance, or dropping to the floor.
like doubles over Live where the doubles team doesn't need to be on the same xbox perhaps?

You mentioned the A.I kind of sucks when sniping from far away. I've noticed that as well in the videos I've seen. I'm hoping it gets fixed...
One thing though, if you've played Goldeneye 64 or the original Perfect Dark.. these games are LONG and hard. They take a long time to complete, and have a lot of cool bonus's for upping the difficulty settings. A lot of people never gave the original PD a chance because by then I think the PS2 had come out, or maybe they didn't like that the bond license was gone. But believe me folks, PD was the better game (better then Goldeneye I mean). They improved on everything, and added so much more. The multiplayer was bat shit insane as well. Go Rare!
Keep faith alive

a player dunks? I watched a teaser for this game and noticed that when
the player dunked the backboard didn't move at all, which hurt the realism.

Anyways, great writeup again!
It'd be cheaper for me to buy games from the US and pay the $15 shipping costs. If there's a region hack for the 360 I might do that.

15 to 20 titles is a pretty good number though.

I have to say as well CO-OP on the 360 seems like one of it's strong points, a number of games seem to be really handling the CO-OP well and making it much more than just tacked on (I saw a great vid of Perfect Dark CO-OP).
