X-Men Legends II Preview
As well as covering Ultimate Spider-Man at Activision's recent preview event, I also checked out Raven's X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse.

I checked out every version of X-Men Legends II, and that's more than a few: PC, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PSP. I was informed that the PC was actually Raven's primary development environment for this game, which is a bit more in line with what one would expect from the studio. Each version of the game supports four-player cooperative play in at least one form. The PC, PS2, Xbox, and PSP versions support internet co-op, and the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube versions feature four-player split screen action. For my money, if there's any one fundamental and obvious feature sadly lacking in many games, it's co-op, so I'm glad to see it starting to crop up again these days--especially in online form.Check it out.
Also it had terrible instances of video game selectiveness, as in, what worked in one place didn't work in others simply because the designers didn't intend it, like Iceman being able to make bridges over instadeath chasms.
I'm all for any game having coop, and I'm all for games with Xmen in them (though to date the only good one has been X-Men:COTA and all the other Capcom derivatives-I guess the Wolverine game wasn't too bad either.) Maybe the game got a lot better later on, and from the previews (which were all cut-scene) it looked like it had a pretty cool story, but we thought it was so bad that we couldn't stick with it long enough to get past the ice area that was 2-3 levels in.

For example, wolverine had like 10 diffrent claw attacks, but you only used one cause they pretty much did the same thing...
They asked me how it could get more like "baldurs gate" and I was kinda speechless...but I figured they just needed to tweak some stuff, tone down some things....games arent fun when you start with 50000 armor and you pick up a suit for 500060000 more armor....stuff like that.
Still, that was awhile ago and they have been working on it for awhile now, hopefully they have improved it alot, because I love games like these.

it's a little disappointing that more wasn't done to craft a specifically portable game.
I would think that having it being nigh-identical to the big-box versions would be the highest compliment for a portable system.

I applaud turning something that is usually a solo deal into a more social thing.
Remo I'm going to read past the second paragraph now and hope I find no more errors :[
