Do you think it would be possible to have it shackmessage you if you have new email. Maybe even being able to set how many before it shackmessages you?

Why does it offer a POP or IMAP option at login? I mean its web based, so it all sits on the server anyway. Is there an option to check your shackmail from a stand alone mail client that I'm not aware of?

Seems ok. Didn't really like the pop up window mail client seems pretty full featured. I can only speak for myself, but I think it applies to many. Most people already have e-mail accounts that they use and not much need for another.

If you want to offer something people can really use and most would be happy to pay for, you could offer fetchmail accounts with spam and virus checking. You could setup a linux box with mailscanner & mailwatch (AV engine of your choice), spam assassin, vispan. Give them a little web interface to add a fetchmail account (their ISP e-mail account for example). The system goes out and pulls their mail from the ISP pop server, scans it for spam and viruses, then plops it in their shackmail box. They can use their current client or whatever means they currently use to retrieve their e-mail spam and virus free. All of the above products are open source and free.

I loaded it up in Firefox, it auto detected and worked fine. Auto detected IE just fine too. On the spam front, I've never used my email, and I do not have any spam, although I'm a very recent addition.

oh i suggest the simple interface.. the advanced one really just has too much crap in it. i imagine some people would use that stuff but i dont think the majority would.

we're now making it default to simple.

I'm not a mercury subscriber, so i can't exactly comment on whether this is in there, but gmail has a Archive system that I can't do without.

Instead of deleting emails, the default button is "Archive" so you store more, when you hit it it goes to a separate folder from your inbox. There have been plenty of times when I thought i didn't need an email and then found out a while later that i did.

I've never, ever used my Shackmail or even given out the address, but I see my inbox is already flooded with spam. I'm assuming I'm not the only one in this situation.

All I want to know is, who is the asshole who sold out all our usernames!?!?

It seems to attempt to detect the browser on the login screen, but doesn't recognise Opera, and shows an unusable default login screen. If I identify Opera as IE though, it comes up fine, and I can use the "Advanced (IE6+)" interface. Not a biggie, I can add Shackmail to my ua.ini if I need to or switch from the quickmenu, and I don't use Shackmail anyway.

Also I haven't really played around with it so I can't tell whether its broken in IE or not (the Mozilla interface won't work), but it did display seemingly perfectly for me on Opera 8.02. If you can get them to modify the login form to correspond its IE detection for Opera, that will probably help a lot.

So for the calendar page, it'd be cool if there was an option to import Shackmeats to the calendar so you can see when others are getting together.

Works well for me so far, and no spam like some other folks are reporting allready. I can use the shack as my "good" email account then.

Is there any way to set your email address to point to another email address and forward copies of all mail received? I didn't see an option to.

Aparently my account is one of those that needs to be converted over. My mailbox is full with only about 60 messages in it.

That is one slick mail interface. Makes me wish I had more use for my Shackmail account.

This is pretty horrible, I don't understand why people think the interface is good. Have you never used gmail? Where you don't actually have to reconfigure your browser, or wait for things to load.

Any web interface based on a whole load of popup windows, or which models itself on a desktop application really needs taken out to the barn and shot.

I've had Mercury since December 2003 and this is the first time I've tried Shackmail -- I love the interface. If only Yahoo! mail was close to this good.
