they arent allowed to put it on shelves until the 3rd. Commies. Looks like a few copies
have slipped out there though so if you poke around in the comments you can find some
info.

So I when I first heard about The Village, I was intriqued, seeing as I irrationally loved Signs and enjoyed Shyamalan's other work.
The movie was well done, that's for sure. People should not be saying that it sucked, it clearly did not. There were some instances that I felt were not strong, especially the cuts, but the movie as a whole was well done. M. Night provides some interesting twists and directs in such a way that emotion comes from his films in a way that I don't think other movies do. His suspense building was strong too, although I think it was layed on thick at some times.
Joaquin Phoenix was good as always, though subdued. Bryce Dallas Howard was very good too. I thought I had seen her in something before but a glance at her imdb.com profile says otherwise. William Hurt did a good job, I enjoyed his character a lot.
Adrien Brody was outstanding. Some people might not think so, saying that it would be easy to play like he did; but that one seen (you know which one), he just makes it sooooo uncomfortable and unsettling (like it's supposed to be).

Now for some reason at the theater I was at, there were nearly 40 teens in the rear of the theater who went up and down the stairs in groups nearly 6 times a piece. I don't know why, but being inconsiderate like that just rubs me fiercely the wrong way. I guess that's why I mostly go to very late showings. I just had to whine about it though. You kids don't be like that. Stay in school.
Lastly, a question for those who saw the movie and were paying attention (not a super spoiler, although I can't say for sure):
When the ranger is getting the meds from the cabinet in the station and you see the guys reflection in the glass, who is it? I missed it because I was watching the vials.
